Wellness & Sustainability Go Hand & Hand

2022 marks the 52nd official Earth Day, a day to raise awareness about the environmental issues our planet faces. While this day has been the catalyst for global change, Hand & Stone is proud to partner with companies that prioritize sustainability and environmental decisions year-round.

m.greengrass is the newest to the Hand & Stone retail family. This American immigration-inspired company offers body scrubs, dry oil sprays, hand and body butter, and candles. The company’s founder explains, “There’s no room for waste at m.greengrass. I was raised by strong advocates that everything be reused. Because of the zero-waste wisdom that they bestowed upon me, I’ve made all our containers reusable or recyclable. Our candles are packaged in food sage containers and are designed to be loved long after their first use as succulent jars a holder for crayons and much more. we have made a conscious effort to avoid adding secondary packaging and cartons.”

ClarityRX, one of our two lead skincare partners, is known for its belief in clean beauty without tradeoffs in terms of safety or efficacy. “We are committed to giving everyone clear, healthy, youthful skin - safely. We have proven it’s possible to create real, visible improvement in wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation, rosacea and sagging without risk, damage or regrets. It’s all done with sustainable products made in the USA without the use of harsh retinols, benzoyl peroxides, hydroquinone, and other harmful chemicals. We leave out extra packaging to reduce waste. Rather than using individual boxes, our products are shrink-wrapped or sealed to keep the contents fresh and effective.”

Dermalogica, the other half of Hand & Stone’s skincare dynamic duo, has an impressive environmental strategy to meet or surpass the following sustainability goals by 2025:

  • 90% of ingredients will be sustainably sourced*
  • 100% of tubes, bottles, and boxes will be designed to be reused, recycled, and/or composted
  • The majority of the plastic in their packaging will be derived from recycled material or plant-based material**
  • We’ll partner primarily with suppliers who monitor and manage their carbon footprint***

In addition, their Clear Start sub-brand will also meet or surpass these Healthy Skin, Healthy Planet targets by 2025.
