Hand & Stone Propels U.S. Growth and Kicks Off 2022 with a Dozen New Deals

Thriving Massage & Spa Franchise Reports Strong Performance in First Quarter

PHILADELPHIA (April 18, 2022)Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, the nation’s leading luxury massage and facial spa franchise, announced today it started the new year strong, seeing an increase in the United States year-over-year systemwide sales, marking yet another quarter of positive growth. On the heels of one of the most successful years in its company history, Hand & Stone also continued to experience compounding development success in Q1, opening six new spas and signing franchise agreements to develop 10 new locations in markets such as Detroit, Philadelphia and Atlanta, as well as its first-ever spas in Hawaii and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

“Building off of the tremendous momentum we achieved in 2021, we’ve already seen a remarkable start to 2022 – not just in sales, but overall development and interest in our brand,” said John Teza, CEO of Hand & Stone. “We’ve continued to see existing operators expand their Hand & Stone portfolios while simultaneously welcoming several new franchisees to our growing system. We’re energized by our performance this quarter and look forward to the remainder of the year.”

Hand & Stone’s industry leadership and exceptional business model have consistently attracted reinvestment from established operators such as Traci and Anthony Nocito, who signed an agreement to open the first Hand & Stone in Myrtle Beach, as well as new prospects. Among Hand & Stone’s newest franchisees are Vaughn and Cassandra Irons, a newly-wed couple who will be bringing a new spa to Stonecrest, Georgia, in the Atlanta metro area. Additionally, Hand & Stone signed a franchise agreement in Q1 to expand beyond the mainland U.S. and open two spas in Honolulu, the first of which is slated to open later this year. As a result of this impressive quarterly growth, Hand & Stone remains on track to open 50 new locations across the U.S. and five in Canada before the end of the year.

“Our franchisees are an integral part of our success and they’re truly the ones that take our brand to new heights each and every day. We’re so grateful to have the best of the best in our system and can’t wait to see all they accomplish in this already promising year ahead,” added Teza.

Since its inception in 2004, Hand & Stone has become a leading massage and facial services concept and continues to be recognized as an outstanding franchise system. The brand received the Zor Award in the beauty and wellness category by Franchise Times as one of the 10 best franchises to buy in 2021. Hand & Stone’s leadership in the spa franchise category, coupled with its differentiated service offerings, membership revenue model, commitment to technology, and proven track record of success position the company for long-term success.
