May School Spotlight: Hand & Stone Partners with Myotherapy Massage College

Hand & Stone is a proud partner with over 75 massage and esthetics schools across the U.S. through our National School Partnership Program. This program encourages our spas to build direct relationships with our partners and work with them individually in ways that can most benefit these schools - such as teaching a CE class, volunteering for an event, joining a committee, and more. It also offers guaranteed interviews at any of our 550+ locations to any of its students or alumni through the Education Portal on our career website.

May’s School Spotlight: Myotherapy Massage College

This month we spoke to Janet Peacock, the Director of Admissions, at Myotherapy Massage College. She graciously helped us gather quotes and information from their campus leaders and instructors to tell the story of the school and partnership.

Can you tell us a little bit about your school and its focus?

Myotherapy has been training prospective Licensed Massage Therapists for nearly 35 years, with more than 2,000 graduates. Many members of Myotherapy’s faculty and administration have been with the college for more than 20 years.

Though we will still have a regular program, I am excited to inform you that on March 20th, Myotherapy Massage College began offering a new Accelerated Program that enables students to meet LMT requirements in four months. This program, which is now nationally accredited, includes 708 clock hours over a 16-week period.

It is intensive and immersive–only suitable for students who can devote themselves entirely to program activities during the four months they are enrolled. A key benefit of this concentrated effort is being able to work full-time as a licensed massage therapist in less than five months after beginning the program, earning money in your new profession much sooner than is possible through most massage education programs. This program is designed to meet licensure requirements in 40 of the 45 states that require licensure for massage therapists, and MMC is prepared to serve students throughout the US.

This program is particularly intended for those who plan to begin their new career working for well-established massage businesses like Hand and Stone Spas, offering the benefits of ongoing professional development and learning from more experienced colleagues and mentors. Initial employment with massage studios or spas allows new therapists to focus on improving their skills without the distractions and challenges of fulfilling multiple roles associated with starting their own business right out of school.

In what ways do Hand & Stone locations close to you support your school and its students?

We invite them into our business class for our panel discussion so that students can ask real-life questions about our profession. We set up mock interviews to help the students understand the interview process when they leave school.

What made your founders interested in massage education?

I believe the college's founder and I are so committed because of the many health benefits of massage and bodywork. I received so much help through bodywork, it intrigued me to learn more about it!

When is your next enrollment event?

We are enrolling for Accelerated start dates on May 15, July 10, September 5, and October 30, 2023. With our accelerated program you can finish the program in 16 weeks!

Our core program starts for the year are July 10 and October 2, 2023. Within the core program, we have 30-week or 50-week classes. We are also hosting a Massage Appreciation Day on June 10th. We are inviting anyone who is in the profession or interested in becoming part of it.

How do local Hand & Stone locations support your school and its students?

We partner with Hand & Stone to come into our school and help educate students about the profession. They come in and do “Meet and Greet” or “Meet and Eat” events where they can talk to our future graduates about the benefit of working for Hand & Stone and give our students a free snack.

Thank you, Janet, for taking the time to chat with us and for your continued support and contribution to Hand & Stone’s exceptional team of professional massage therapists!
