June School Spotlight: MPower Education

Hand & Stone is a proud partner with over 75 massage and esthetics schools across the U.S. through our National School Partnership Program. This program encourages our spas to build direct relationships with our partners and work with them individually in ways that can most benefit these schools - such as teaching a CE class, volunteering for an event, joining a committee, and more. It also offers guaranteed interviews at any of our 550+ locations to any of its students or alumni through the Education Portal on our career website.

June's School Spotlight: MPower Education

This month we spoke to Pete Medd, CEO and co-founder and Jeff McGrath, VP/Chief Education Officer, at MPower Education. Jeff operated a massage school for over a decade before joining MPower Education, he knows what massage students need to be successful through schooling and in the field.

Can you tell us a little bit about your school and its focus?

Innovation is at the core of who we are. Our innovative hybrid programs mean more people can start new careers. We believe that career education should be more convenient, and affordable, and lead to real career opportunities. We work with employers to involve them in the front-end training process —by facilitating relationships with our students from day 1.

MPower is approved and educating future massage therapists in Virginia, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Florida, Texas, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania (through our partnership with Commonwealth University). We have over 400 students currently enrolled and 120 + licensed graduates working in the field. We are currently working with over 70 Hand and Stone locations to bring more therapists into being and help solve the therapist shortage in the industry.

In what ways do Hand & Stone locations close to you support your school and its students?

We work very closely with our local Hand & Stone locations to help promote the path of becoming a massage therapist and ultimately a career with Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spas. We firmly believe that employers have a valuable role to play in helping grow the profession and bring more massage therapists into the industry. In addition to the promotion of the profession, we work with our Hand & Stone partners to ultimately provide job opportunities and tuition sponsorship agreements to our graduates. Through our enrollment and education process, our Hand & Stone partners work with students to allow them the opportunity to invest in themselves with financing, tuition reimbursement, and jobs while in school. (offerings vary by location).

When is your next enrollment event?

MPower has open enrollments on an ongoing basis, if interested in a career in massage therapy go to M|Power (mpowereducation.com).

Currently, MPower is onboarding in PA, IL, CO, AZ, VA, FL, NH, and TX. If you are part of the Hand & Stone franchise network, please reach out to Sooki Jennings, Corporate Industry Growth Manager, sjennings@handandstone.com for details.

How has your school taken advantage of the benefits of the Hand and Stone Partnership?

We know that our graduates will have a professional home with great opportunities at a Hand and Stone location. The company culture is overwhelmingly positive and with our Hand & Stone partners offering to sponsor new massage therapists to enter the profession, it is a great partnership to help grow our enrollments, grow Hand & Stone therapists and the profession as a whole.

Thank you, Pete & Jeff, for taking the time to chat with us and your continuing support and contribution to Hand and Stone’s exceptional team of professional massage therapists!
