August School Spotlight: Cortiva Institute

Hand & Stone is a proud partner with over 80 massage and esthetics schools across the U.S. through our National School Partnership Program. This program encourages our spas to build direct relationships with our partners and work with them individually in the ways that can most benefit these schools - such as teaching a CE class, volunteering for an event, joining a committee, etc. It also offers guaranteed interviews at any of our 500 + locations to any of its students or alumni through the Education Portal on our careers site.

August’s School Spotlight: Cortiva Institute

We spoke to Itzel Yagual Director of Career Services this month, who helped us interview other Cortiva leaders. Thank you, Itzel & Team!

Can you tell us a little bit about your school and its focus?

Cortiva Institute's Professional Massage Therapy Program prepares students to become successful practicing bodyworkers by giving them a broad knowledge of therapeutic and clinical techniques to jumpstart their careers.

Cortiva Institute students learn a diverse style of therapeutic massage and bodywork therapies based on Swedish theory, including Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Lymphatic, Sports/Event, Myofascial Release & More! With real-world training, not only will students perform their hands-on clinical at The Spa at Cortiva, but they will also enter their program with a professional student kit to get their careers started. Cortiva Institute does not consider itself successful unless its students are successful. All students and graduates have access to both online and in-person MBLEx reviews. These reviews are held better to prepare their graduates for their state licensure exam.

What made your founder interested in Massage Education?

The benefits of Massage Therapy itself sparked interest for Neal Heller to pursue a lifetime committed to providing quality Massage Therapy education. A family member of his suffered from aches and pains due to a medical illness. Modern medicine was insufficient to soothe day-to-day pain, so the family sought alternative holistic solutions. When the family discovered Massage Therapy sessions helped alleviate much of the aches and pains, Heller decided to take on the path to create a school - now a group of schools - to teach others to heal with the power of touch!
