The Growing Success of Cryoskin at Hand & Stone

Cryoskin is a cutting-edge, non-invasive technology that uses cold temperatures to slim, tone, and contour the face and body. Cryoskin launched nationwide at Hand & Stone this past February, and in eight months, more than 200 spas have begun offering this service.  Hand & Stone’s Cryoskin menu currently consists of CryoSlimming, CryoToning & CryoFacial. These effective body and facial contouring services help guests achieve long-lasting results that fulfill their skincare goals while avoiding suction and surgery. During a time when consumers are highly prioritizing health, self-care, and convenience, this revolutionary technology is bridging the gap between luxury and affordability.

What sets Cryoskin apart?

Many are likely familiar with Coolsculpting, a similar type of body contouring that uses cold temperatures to reduce fat. However, there are a few things that set Cryoskin apart from similar services.

Cryoskin uses a temperature-controlled wand to freeze fat. The wand is gentle on the skin, feels cool and refreshing, and has been compared to getting a cold stone massage. Other services, like Coolsculpting, suction the skin through a vacuum to freeze fat cells, which has been reported to cause quite a bit of discomfort and even bruising. Other procedures can also take several hours, while a Cryoskin treatment can be completed in 20 to 30 minutes.

Another difference is in the results. While Coolsculpting is usually a one-time procedure, it can take up to four months to see lasting results. With Cryoskin, guests may have to get a few treatments before they see a noticeable difference (especially in more stubborn areas like the stomach and glutes), but the results after 3-5 sessions are immediate and lasting. While clients might consider Coolsculpting since it’s a single procedure, the price is drastically higher than Cryoskin, with the service ranging from $2,000 to $4,000. A CryoFacial at Hand & Stone is only $200, and our CryoSlimming and CryoToning body procedures are around $350. Even if a client has a Cryoskin service five times, it is still significantly less expensive compared to similar services. If guests are on the fence about which treatment is right for them, the cost difference is a point Hand & Stone estheticians can use to educate their clients. You can learn more about the differences here, but in terms of convenience, comfort, results, and cost, we truly believe that Cryoskin is the winner.

Hand & Stone is committed to providing guests with the latest and most innovative services. To enhance the Cryoskin services offered for both clients and estheticians, we implemented the Hand & Stone Cryoskin Online Course Platform, a Cryoskin Certification Training Day, and a Cryoskin Support Training Day. Once estheticians complete these courses, they must complete seven practice treatments before servicing guests. We also developed unique treatment plans based on age, skin type, and personal goals. These initiatives ensure that our estheticians feel confident providing top-level care to guests, while also giving them the opportunity to expand their services and increase their ticket prices for a single appointment.

“As an esthetician, I feel as though our esthetics menu has always granted me the capacity to offer our clients the most amazing skincare protocols,” says Sarah Stinson, Hand & Stone’s Cryoskin Services Coordinator. “The opportunity to add a cutting-edge modality like Cryoskin has allowed our estheticians to help clients achieve their skincare goals in new ways. I’m overjoyed to see Hand & Stone esthetics growing in a direction that allows our estheticians to expand our service offerings, increase our service ticket, and offer body and facial services unlike ever before.”

This launch has allowed Hand & Stone franchisees to add more options to their service menus, and guests can easily add Cryoskin to the services they have already grown to love, like DiamondGlow®. With the addition of Cryoskin, our spas are booking more facial appointments for existing guests, while also attracting new customers for facials and body contouring services. Most importantly, we have given our valued members more ways to utilize their membership with our broadened service offerings. Hand & Stone is thrilled to be the leader in the personal services category for this cutting-edge technology, and we strongly encourage our franchisees who are interested in implementing Cryoskin into their spas to reach out to us about it!
